The mood of the piece is sad as it is about her brother going to war. This is conveyed by the tone as it has low notes and is quite slow. She has kept the music simple with her voice being accompanied by a piano which makes it sound more real and emotional. "Disconnected" is the name of the song and shows the relationship between her and her brother now that he has moved away.
The song reminds me of Adele 'Someone like you' as they both convey feelings about a relationship breaking down whether it's an ex boyfriend or a brother. They both sing accompanied with a piano and let the emotions of the song come through to the audience. This is kept simple and works well. If it was up beat it wouldn't have the same effect and wouldn't work as well because the song would loose meaning.
I would class this song as acoustic soul. This is because its only her voice and one other instrument, in this case a piano. The lyrics and the way in which she sings also make it soul because of the emotion.

Coldplay- The Scientist.
The music i am going to analysize is The Scientist by Coldplay.
The tone and the mood of the music is sad and regretful. This is shown by the music video being played backwards accompanied with the lyric "going back to the start". The video shows the story of a couple driving along in a car, the woman wants to take her jacket off so temporally takes her seat-belt off to do so. Before she can put it back on a large lorry makes them swerve off the road and the car rolls down a hill. She is catapulted out of the window and lays lifeless. Her partner is left in the car unharmed and walks off into the woods so he doesn't have to see her lying there.
The music goes well with the lyrics as it helps to tell the story.

Presentation Evaluation
| We had just given our presentation. |
I think that our presentation went well, we all worked together to produce the powerpoint and tried to go into a lot of detail.
If I was to do this again I would analyze it slightly further to get a higher grade.
I think we used the glossary well as we broke the different types of sounds down and gave examples within the film for each one. This would have been harder to do if we hadn't learnt the correct terminology.
I learnt how to dissect different types of sound within a well known film, looking at how they are used and what the effects of them are.
